Mwanza’s Regional Commissioner, Engineer Robert Gabriel’s convoy crashes with a hiace at Busega claiming 14 lives.

A car that was carrying journalists to the DC’s visit to Ukerewe to hand over various development projects faced a head-on collision causing the deaths of five journalists instantly.

Some civilians in the Hiace including the driver also died at the scene, leaving others injured.

While giving a speech at the launch of Basra Textile Mills LTD, President Samia addressed the mass and sent her condolences to the organisations, families, and all Tanzanians for the loss of their loved ones.

Also leaving a message on her Twitter account.

“I am shocked by the deaths of 14 people including 6 journalists that happened this morning after a car in the convoy of Mwanza Regional Commissioner collided with Daladala. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones, the journalists, and relatives. May God grant eternal rest to the deceased and heal the wounded quickly,” she wrote on Twitter.

The journalists who lost their lives are;

Antony Chuwa – Freelancer, Husna Milanzi – ITV, Johari Shani – Uhuru Digital, Abel Ngapenda – Information Officer at Mwanza Regional Commissioner’s Office, and Steven Msengi – Ukerewe Information Officer.
