Seven residents of Msuka Taponi, Micheweni District in Pemba, Zanzibar died from eating the meat of a poisonous turtle while 24 others are still fighting for their lives at a hospital in Pemba.

The President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Hussein Ali Mwinyi has shared his grievances with the families of the deceased via Twitter.

“I would like to send my sincere condolences to the families of the deceased who passed away after eating a poisonous turtle,” President Mwinyi tweeted.

Three died on Friday, November 29, two on Saturday, and two others on Sunday.
