At least two people were killed, others injured and several cars were set on fire following two explosions in the centre of Kampala, Uganda earlier today, Nov 16, 2021.

One of the explosions happened near the central police station while the other happened near the parliament, reported a local TV (NTV).

“First responders included Red Cross personnel who were using fire extinguishers to curb the fire on Parliamentary Avenue,” as tweeted on NTV’s page.

A Ugandan military spokesperson, Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso, told Reuters that there had been “multiple” blasts and “multiple” casualties and Uganda Red Cross spokesperson, Irene Nakasiita said they are yet to release details about the blasts.

The cause of the blasts is still unknown.

In October there were two other bomb explosions in Uganda one at a restaurant in Kawempe, Kampla that claimed a waitress’ life and a suicide bomb on a bus killing the bomber and leaving those onboard injured.
