The Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children released a statement on the widespread flu, sore throat, headaches, tiredness, body pain, and fever stirring fear over the presence of the new Covid variant ‘Omicron’ in the country.
A statement signed by the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Aifello Sichalwe asked citizens not to fret as Omicron has not been detected in the country and the flu and sore throats people are experiencing due to seasonal influenza.
However, Those with all the above symptoms have been advised to consult a doctor and get proper treatment while the government is still looking deeper into the issue.
The ministry has also warned people to continue following all COVID-19 precautions including getting the Covid jabs as the pandemic is still attacking and might cause bigger risks, especially during this holiday season if the precautions are not being followed.
