According to a credible source, the Czech aircraft manufacturer “Skyleader” plans to put up its station in Tanzania’s coastal region of Mtwara.
The company specializes in the design and manufacture of ultralight ready-to-fly aircraft.
“The investor has shown interest in establishing its base in coastal areas. In this case, the company is likely to set its plant in Mtwara Region,” the source told The Citizen.
Skyleader plans to start a plant for its Skyleader 500, an all-metal two-seat aircraft with a trapezoidal wing.
The aircraft makes its planes for both touring and training and can be customized based on the customer’s requirements.
Further, the news comes at the right time as the Deputy Minister for Works and Transportation, Atupele Mwakibete, said during a Q&A in parliament yesterday that the government is planning to buy training planes for pilots worth Tsh 4 billion.
