Joel Jaffer A’ita, a billionaire from Uganda, has taken over international headlines after submitting an offer to purchase Chelsea F.C of London in the U.K.
A’ita is a civil engineer from the Makerere University and owns Aura Hill Sports Club in the Uganda Premier League.
He officially submitted his bid to take over the Blues, becoming the second Ugandan to bid for a United Kingdom football club after Michael Ezra Mulyoowa’s attempt for Leeds United in 2004 (£60 Million).
“I am ready to take over Chelsea Football Club and did all the former documentation required”, A’ita revealed to Kawowo Sports Media on Thursday, March 3, 2022.
A’ita is offering $ 3.3 billion to Russian Billionaire Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea Football Club and intends to remain the club as Kongolo Football Club.
“Following the public communication about the intention to sell Chelsea FC, I would like to express our interest to purchase the club. With the current value at $ 3.2 billion, we offer $ 3.3 billion. We intend to rename the club as Kongolo FC,” Aita wrote to Abramovich.
Aita came into Uganda’s football scene in 2019 when he took over Doves All Stars Football Club. The franchise was renamed Arua Hill Sports Club, christened as the Kongolo (loosely translated as the Leopards)
