Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has issued to warning to people whom he accuses of incitement about the relocation of the Maasai in the Ngorongoro conservation area.
Following the government’s announcement about the Maasai who wish to vacate the area voluntarily, the government has revealed a location (400,000 acres) in Handeni district in the Tanga region.
According to Premier, despite the government’s effort to observe all human rights upon making that decision, many notable activists have disseminated wrong information about the whole process.
“Stop misleading people about the relocation of people from Ngorongoro to Handeni. We care about all human rights in the process, and the government will provide transport for people and their properties. The government will also compensate those who are relocated after evaluating their houses,” said Mr Majaliwa, who spoke with residents of Msomera village in Handeni, where new residences were being developed.
