President Samia Suluhu has lifted the ban on political rallies placed by her predecessor’s decree back in 2016. Speaking at the historical moment at the Jakaya Kikwete Conference Hall at the State House in Dar es Salaam, President Hassan humbly pleaded with politicians to conduct politics that abide by the country’s laws, regulations and our cultural affinities.
Out of respect, the nineteen political parties gathered at the State House in Dar es Salaam stood and praised President Hassan’s announcement. Lifting the ban on political rallies is the continuation of President Hassan’s zeal to bridge political rifts incurred in the past regime through her 4Rs philosophy, i.e. Reconciliation, Resiliency, Reforms & Rebuilding.
President Samia also hinted at the issue of constitutional reforms. According to her, the government is looking into viable possibilities to revive the process as a series of internal meetings are underway looking for the best approach to initiate it. In the exact alignment, the government has also started preparations to amend some controversial laws, said President Samia.
