Samia Reaffirms Commitment to Safeguarding Tanzania’s Sovereignty

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the country’s security and defense forces to take swift action against individuals misusing digital platforms and technology. She also strongly condemned the growing number of foreign activists attempting to interfere in Tanzania’s internal affairs.

“I’ve seen several clips criticizing me—claims of discrimination and all sorts of things. What I am doing is protecting my country, which is the responsibility I’ve been entrusted with. So we will not allow anyone, whether from inside or outside the country, to come and cause disruption here,” President Samia stated.

The President urged responsible ministries and officials to provide clear explanations in response to allegations made by activists and other individuals. She emphasized the importance of debunking misinformation and taking immediate action when necessary, especially when such claims relate to specific sectors.

President Samia’s statement reflects a firm stance on national sovereignty, digital responsibility, and misinformation management, as Tanzania continues to navigate the intersection of technology, free speech, and governance.
