Arusha Stadium Project hits milestone as government urges public engagement

The construction of the new football stadium in Arusha Region has reached 51% completion, surpassing the targeted progress for this phase of the project, according to an official report presented during a government inspection visit.

Mr. Paul Sangawe, Director of Policy and Government Coordination from the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, and Coordination), led the site visit and expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work. He called for increased public awareness to keep citizens informed about the project’s development and the economic and social opportunities it brings.

“This is not just a sports facility—it is a strategic investment in the region’s development,” said Mr. Sangawe. “We encourage citizens to engage with and support this project.”

The stadium, designed to seat approximately 30,000 spectators, is a key part of the government’s national push to improve sports infrastructure. Once completed, it is expected to boost local and regional events, stimulate economic activity, and promote sports development.

Current construction activities include the finalization of spectator stands, lower-floor facilities, and the installation of essential systems such as electricity, fire safety, and ICT. The government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring timely completion through coordinated efforts among contractors, engineers, and local stakeholders.
