Tanzania receives modern equipment from UNDP to boost anti-poaching and wildlife protection efforts

Tanzania has received state-of-the-art equipment valued at TSh 240 million to strengthen its efforts in combating poaching and managing human-wildlife conflicts. The support comes from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) Project.

The handover ceremony took place today in Dodoma, where the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Pindi Chana, officially received the equipment.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Chana emphasized the importance of the donation, stating that the tools will significantly bolster the government’s ability to tackle poaching and illegal wildlife trade across the country.

The donated equipment includes 20 motorbikes and seven drones, which are expected to improve surveillance, response times, and overall effectiveness in wildlife protection operations.
