Aminex Plc is moving ahead with construction of a key gas pipeline in southern Tanzania, as the company pushes toward first production from the Ntorya gas field in 2026.
The pipeline will link the Ntorya field in the Ruvuma Basin to the Madimba gas processing plant, forming a critical piece of infrastructure needed to bring the project online. Materials for the pipeline have already been manufactured and delivered, with groundwork and pipelaying now underway.
Completion and commissioning of the pipeline are targeted for the third quarter of 2026, aligning with plans to start gas production from the Ntorya-2 well.
The project, operated by ARA Petroleum Tanzania in partnership with Aminex and the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), is progressing alongside upstream development activities, including drilling and well rehabilitation.
Executives say the alignment between pipeline construction and upstream operations is critical to ensuring timely delivery of first gas, with over $50 million allocated for the 2026 work programme.
Analysts view the project as a positive signal for Tanzania’s energy sector, highlighting growing momentum in domestic gas development and increased investor confidence in upstream and midstream infrastructure.
If timelines hold, the Ntorya project will mark a significant step in boosting Tanzania’s domestic gas supply, supporting power generation and industrial use while strengthening the country’s broader energy security strategy.
