Burundi borrows a leaf from Tanzania on how to run the mining sector.

The Burundi delegation has arrived in Tanzania for training about running the mining sector and implementing big mining projects, referring to the nickel project about to take off in Tanzania.

This comes one month since the international mining investment conference ended in Tanzania, which saw Tanzania reap great success.

During the conference, Ibrahim Uwizeye, the Burundi Minister of minerals, was quite impressed by Tanzania’s presentation on its robust success in the mining sector. The minister had asked Tanzania’s minister of minerals, Doto Biteko, to bring his team from Burundi to come and learn how to run the mining sector to benefit the people of the Burundi republic.

“It’s hard for now to speak about what will be next after the Burundi tour to Tanzania”, – Biteko said.

“The Kabanga mining project in Tanzania and Msongati nickel project in Burundi are the same, the lie on the same geology, as you know, geology is borderless for except the territorial borders that countries have. It is also good for Tanzania and Burundi to work together in the mining sector, which will motivate other African countries,” – added minister Biteko.
