Dar es Salaam Adopts Multi-Storey School Designs to Tackle Land Shortage

DUE to the limited availability of land in Dar es Salaam, the Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, has announced that the government has decided to begin constructing schools using multi-storey designs to address space constraints.

Chalamila made the statement yesterday during a visit by the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Regional Political Committee, aimed at inspecting the implementation of various development projects within the region, including the construction of Mangaya Secondary School located in the Temeke District Council.

Providing an update on the school’s construction, the Temeke Municipal Director, Dr. Janeth Barongo, stated that the school is being built as a three-storey structure, which will include eight classrooms and four offices. The project has been estimated to cost over 1 billion Tanzanian shillings, funded through a combination of government grants and local municipal revenue.

Meanwhile, CCM Dar es Salaam Regional Chairperson Abbas Mtemvu called on citizens to protect all government-implemented projects, emphasizing their importance for current and future generations. He also urged residents to actively support these development efforts in various ways.
