The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices for September.
According to the new prices, petrol has decreased by an average of TZS 102 per litre, while diesel has dropped by TZS 101 per litre. The reduction has been attributed to changes in global oil prices during the period when the fuel was imported.
In Dar es Salaam, a litre of petrol will now sell for TZS 3,796, down from TZS 3,898 in August, while diesel will retail at TZS 3,877, down from TZS 3,978. Kerosene prices have also declined to TZS 3,713 per litre.
EWURA said oil companies may sell their products at competitive prices, provided they do not exceed the maximum prices set by the regulator. The authority also directed all fuel stations to clearly display their prices and issue receipts to customers in accordance with the law.
