Police in North Pemba are investigating the killing of a Form One student, Raiyan Hemed Amour, 15, a resident of Kwale Mpona Village in Finya Shehia, Wete District.

According to a police statement issued on October 5, 2026, the student’s body was found in a bush with an injury to his right hand, believed to have been caused by a sharp object.

Police said Raiyan left home for school on October 2 but did not return. His father later reported him missing at Wete Police Station, prompting an investigation.

His body was later recovered and examined at Wete District Hospital in Kinyasini before being handed over to relatives for burial.

Police said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.
