Bank of Tanzania has released the report on Tanzania’s economic status ending the second quarter of 2022, which begins from April – June.
In the quarter ending June 2022, the economy continued to experience spillover effects of high commodity prices in the world, as well as tight financial conditions and monetary policy tightening by central banks in advance.
Speaking of minerals, Gold produced by large-scale miners slightly decreased to USD 444 million in the quarter ending June 2022 from USD 469 million in a similar quarter in 2021.
This was associated with the closure of the Buzwagi Gold Mine in June 2021. Production of Diamond was 63,973 carats, valued at USD 17.4 million.
