Google warning: Check your Android phone for huge danger right now

If you’re fed up with being tracked by pesky cookies online, it might be time for a good clear out.

Websites use cookies to get a better idea of who you are and what you’re interested in.

It’s all anonymous, but they can build a profile on you to show you personalised adverts.

So if you’ve been doing some holiday research, you can bet ads related to holidays will start showing up.

The cookies are essentially small identifiers that you pick up as you visit sites.

Thankfully, there’s a way to clear them – though you’ll have to do it routinely to keep them off your case.

It’s important to note that cookies are also sometimes quite functional.

Sites use it to remember you, so you save time if you’ve added something to the shopping trolley and gone onto another site.

So if you clear the cookies, you’ll lose the ad tracking side of things and the valuable bits.

To clear your cookies on android, go to Google Chrome and open the settings menu.

Go to History and tap Clear Browsing Data.

You don’t need to delete all history unless you want to.

So just select Cookies, Site Data.

Ensure the time range is set to All time as well.

And to finish, tap Clear Browsing Data at the bottom.
