Government Set to Introduce Special Salt Production License

The government is in the process of introducing a new license specifically for salt production, aiming to remove the commodity from the general category of other minerals.

This was revealed yesterday in Dodoma during a meeting between the Minister of Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, and the leadership of the Tanzania Salt Producers Association (TASPA), as part of efforts to improve the mining sector through the salt industry.

“President Samia Suluhu Hassan has given us clear directives to empower both mineral miners and salt producers in the country to boost the growth of the mining sector.

“The government has heard your longstanding call for a dedicated salt production license, which will help develop salt producers by reducing production costs and removing salt from the category of other minerals,” he explained.

TASPA Chairperson, Hawa Ghasia, commended the Ministry of Minerals for its approach in listening to stakeholders and working to find solutions to their challenges.
