Honoring Zambia’s Legacy: President Samia’s Wreath-Laying Ceremony.

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Honorable Samia Suluhu Hassan, joined President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia to lay wreaths at the Tower of Freedom of Zambia.

President Samia placed this wreath as a sign of respect and recognition for those who led the struggle for the country’s independence in 1964.

After laying a wreath for the heroes, President Samia also placed a wreath at the grave of Zambia’s Founding Father, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, in Lusaka.

Today, Zambia celebrates 59 years of independence from the British in 1964, and the wreath-laying ceremony is performed annually during these commemorations.

President Samia has been invited as the guest of honor at the 59th Independence Day celebration event later today at the Presidential Palace of Zambia.
