Makonda to appear before court for misuse of power

Former Dar es Salaam regional commissioner, Paul Makonda to appear before court anytime from now for misuse of power allegations.

As reported by Raia Mwema, the case is being instituted by a private practicing advocate whose name remains anonymous. All procedures for Makonda to be called before the court are to be completed this week.

He is being charged for misuse of power which involves using his position for his personal vendetta.

In March 17, 2017 at 21:40, Makonda alongside four other men said to be his guards raided Clouds Tv offices in Dar es Salaam forcing to air a recorded program they came with of a lady known as Grace Athuman confessing to having an affair with a current Member of Parliament for Kawe, Bishop Josephat Gwajima which is against journalistic ethics.

It should be noted that at the moment, Gwajima and Makonda were having a verbal fight and the video could have turned the fight in his favour.

Makonda is said to have threatened the Clouds Media workers and forced the media house to air content that could lead to defamation of character.

He held the office from march 2016 until mid-July 2020 when he opted to run for the MP post for Kigamboni constituency.
