Minimum wage increased by 35% to 500,000/- as government rewards workers’ role in economic recovery

IT’S all smiles for workers in the country after President Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday announced a significant salary increase for public servants effective July 1st this year.

The biggest beneficiaries of the new announcement are the minimum wage earners, who will see their monthly pay rise from 370,000/- to 500,000/-, a 35.1 per cent increase aimed at improving livelihoods and recognising the role of workers in national development.

President Samia delivered the good news during the International Workers’ Day celebrations held in Singida Region, where she praised workers for their hard work and resilience in supporting the government’s economic recovery efforts.

“You tightened your belts when we asked you to, and dedicated yourselves to hard work, which has led to our economy growth to reach 5.5 per cent this year,” she said.
