More than 600 households in Mtwara can now cook using natural gas connected to their houses by Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).

Ms Adelian Kabwogi, the TPDC development officer, said that the installation of gas pipes in people’s households began in 2020, a move that has brought a ripple effect on environmental conservation as the majority have substituted charcoal and firewood with gas.

“We have great plans of reaching many households in the future. We intend our people to enjoy the benefit of their resource and use it for cooking and light their houses ” – Ms Adelian.
