Tanzania has opened a new entrance gate at Tarangire National Park as part of efforts to improve access and strengthen tourism-driven growth in the country.
The Mamire Gate, completed in April 2026 at a cost of more than Sh3.9 billion, is designed to ease entry for visitors, particularly those travelling from Dodoma via the Standard Gauge Railway as well as from Singida and Manyara regions.
The new facility includes visitor amenities, staff housing, parking areas, water systems, and electricity infrastructure, reflecting a broader push to upgrade tourism facilities and enhance the visitor experience.
Officials say the project is part of a wider strategy to increase Tanzania’s share of global safari tourism by improving connectivity to key parks and reducing congestion at existing entry points.
Local authorities expect the development to generate economic opportunities for nearby communities, as increased visitor traffic creates demand for goods and services.
The move underscores Tanzania’s ongoing investment in tourism infrastructure as it seeks to position itself as a more accessible and competitive destination in Africa’s safari market.
