The National Housing Corporation (NHC) has officially completed the long-stalled Morocco Square project in Dar es Salaam, marking a major milestone in its mission to expand both housing and commercial infrastructure nationwide.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Minister for Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Deogratius Ndejembi, revealed that the 137 billion shilling project had been on hold since 2018 due to challenges in obtaining a loan permit. However, in 2023, the Sixth Phase Government stepped in and authorized NHC to secure a 174 billion shilling loan to revive Morocco Square alongside two other key projects in the city.
While presenting his ministry’s 2025/2026 budget proposal, the Minister confirmed that all 100 residential units at Morocco Square have been sold, and the commercial and office spaces have been fully leased.
