Residents urged to surrender illegal firearms within the remaining 18 days

The Tanzania Police Force in Tabora Region has urged residents to voluntarily surrender illegal firearms within the remaining 18 days to avoid severe legal consequences once the amnesty period ends.

Acting Tabora Regional Police Commander and Head of Community Policing, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mahemba Kavalambi, made the remarks on October 14, 2026, while speaking to the media in the region.

ACP Kavalambi said that once the voluntary surrender amnesty expires, the Tabora Regional Police Force will launch an intensive operation to identify and track down individuals possessing firearms illegally.
