Samia: Make Nanenane grounds the heart of extension services

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has directed the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries to designate John Malecela Grounds (Nanenane Grounds) in Dodoma as the national headquarters for agricultural extension services.

The directive was issued on Friday during the official closing of the Nanenane Exhibition, an annual national event for farmers, livestock keepers, and fishers.

President Samia said the existing infrastructure at the site—including input shops and year-round operations—makes it ideal for centralizing extension services, improving accessibility for citizens.

However, she stressed that extension services must continue across all regions to ensure farmers, livestock keepers, and fishers receive nationwide support.

The move is part of the government’s broader push to boost productivity in the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors, which are vital to Tanzania’s economy.
