Samia to grace world’s free press day, government pledges firm corporation with journalists

As the world expects to celebrate the world’s Press Freedom tomorrow, May 3, 2022, Tanzania’s government has pledged to improve the country’s journalists and media working environment.

Dr Jim Yonaz, the permanent secretary of the ministry of information and technology, made those remarks today in Arusha at the symposium ahead of the world’s free press celebrations.

Dr Jim said that the ministry and the media industry have had good cooperation for so long, particularly in executing minor overhauls and reforms upon improving the media industry for the benefit of the country.

“The ministry is keen to working with the media industry and other stakeholders in the attempt to set the friendly environment for media operation and their prosperity in the quest building the national economy”, – said Dr Jim

Journalists and other media stakeholders from across Africa have gathered in Arusha to celebrate WPFD Day. President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to be the guest of honour in Tanzania as the world celebrates tomorrow.
