Simiyu: Three captured for Gold smuggling

Simiyu region police force has reported holding three people in custody for smuggling 14.4 grams of gold.

Mr Aman Msuya, the minerals official, has confirmed that incidence today, April 19, 2022. Mr Msuy attested that the apprehension of the three culprits was successful after vigorous police inspection following intelligence information they had received that there was gold being smuggled to Kenya.

“They often smuggle goods from small miners, albeit we issued them forms to authorize their purchase from the mines to the market, unfortunately, they don’t do that thus, gold doesn’t reach the market.” – said Mr Msuya.

The acting police commander of Simiyu, Mr Shedrack Masija, has confirmed the presence of smuggles in custody ready to be tried. The Simiyu Regional Commissioner, Mr Kafulila, visited the police station and urged the culprits in custody to speak the truth and help the police discover their entire network of smugglers.
