Tanzania and Egypt have agreed to strengthen their relationship, placing major focus on economic cooperation—especially in trade, energy, and investment. This commitment came after a high-level meeting between officials from both countries held during the Indian Ocean Conference 2026.
Both sides emphasized expanding collaboration in key sectors such as infrastructure, industrial development, and energy, with the goal of boosting economic growth and improving livelihoods in the two countries. They also highlighted the importance of working together on broader regional and global issues, including climate change, security, and sustainable development.
Beyond economics, Tanzania and Egypt agreed to strengthen coordination in international and regional platforms, including promoting the blue economy and better use of maritime resources. The talks also reaffirmed their long-standing historical ties and shared interest in deeper African cooperation.
On the sidelines of the same event, Tanzania also held discussions with Seychelles to expand cooperation in trade, investment, and regional peace—showing a wider diplomatic push to build stronger partnerships across the region
