Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has called for stronger economic cooperation between Tanzania and Namibia, noting that despite historic ties, current trade levels remain modest.
“Despite the good historical relations between our countries, we have realized that economic cooperation is still limited and needs to be enhanced,” President Samia said during talks with Namibian President.
She revealed that trade between the two countries rose from TZS 17 billion in 2019 to TZS 20 billion in 2023, but added that many opportunities remain untapped.
“In our discussions, we focused on identifying areas where we can work together to grow our economic relations,” she said.
President Samia also extended an invitation to Namibian businesses to participate in this year’s Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba), encouraging them to engage with Tanzanian counterparts and explore investment opportunities.
