Tanzania sets aside Tsh 86.1bn/- for airports renovations

In the financial year 2022/23, the Government of President Samia Suluhu has allocated Sh. 86.1bn/- for constructing and modifying various airports throughout the country.

The goal is to improve the air transport sector and also to strengthen the tourism sector, which has contributed a large amount of money to the national income.

The parks that have been prioritized are Kigoma, Mpanda, Songwe, Tabora, Arusha, Mtwara and Mwanza. The government will not stop there; Minister in charge, Hon. Makame Mbarawa has said that the Government of President Samia Suluhu will build and renovate all 58 airports in the country under the authority of the airports in the country (TAA).

However, in the 2022/23 budget, the Government has allocated a budget of Tsh 20.4bn/- for the Msalato International Airport in Dodoma, the Government Headquarters.

The government of President Samia Suluhu has also allocated Sh. 356bn/- for the improvement of Tanzania Airlines (ATCL), where until now, the organization has 11 new planes while another 5 new planes have already been ordered, which will arrive at the beginning of 2023.
