Tanzania has announced a goal to boost trade with Türkiye to $1 billion, up from $284 million in 2024, as part of efforts to expand exports and strengthen economic ties.
The target was unveiled during the signing of the Joint Trade Committee (JTC) agreement in Dar es Salaam. Minister for Industry and Trade, Dr Selemani Jafo, said the plan focuses on increasing locally made exports and enhancing cooperation in key sectors like manufacturing, mining, and agriculture.
Dr Jafo highlighted that Türkiye’s advanced technology, especially in agriculture and manufacturing, could greatly benefit Tanzania through investment and job creation. He also credited growing diplomatic ties and Turkish involvement in major projects like the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) for strengthening the partnership.
Türkish Chargé d’Affaires Ali Goktug IPEK reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to deeper trade and investment ties, with the JTC expected to remove barriers and boost bilateral cooperation.
