Trade between Tanzania and the United States has more than doubled in four years, rising from $380.2 million in 2021 to $778.1 million in 2024—a 104.7% increase.
Tanzania’s Ambassador to the U.S., Elsie Kanza, attributed the growth to several initiatives, notably the 2023 launch of the Tanzania American Chamber of Commerce (TACC) and a financing agreement with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), which expanded investment opportunities for American businesses in Tanzania.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam during a reception for Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, Amb. Kanza highlighted the growing economic ties. Johnson’s visit—his first to Africa—aims to deepen trade, cultural, and social relations between Dallas and Dar es Salaam.
Tanzania mainly exports agricultural goods, minerals, and textiles to the U.S., while importing wheat, machinery, chemicals, and vehicles.
Dallas, with a GDP over $688 billion, officially welcomed the TACC last May, reinforcing the two nations’ growing commercial partnership.
