Tanzania Warns Foreigners Against Destabilizing Activities

Home Affairs Minister Innocent Bashungwa has issued a strong warning to foreigners attempting to enter Tanzania with hidden agendas, saying they will face legal action.

While presenting his ministry’s 2025/26 budget in Parliament on May 26, Bashungwa reaffirmed the government’s support for legitimate foreign investment and tourism but cautioned against individuals who misuse entry permits to engage in activities that threaten national stability.

“There is no space in our country for ill-intentioned foreigners,” he said, commending immigration and security agencies for their vigilance.

The remarks follow the deportation of several Kenyan activists who tried to attend a court session involving opposition figure Tundu Lissu, sparking public debate about foreign interference.

Bashungwa urged citizens to stay united and alert, warning that modern threats to national security often come in non-military forms. “Today’s enemies may not arrive in tanks, but through networks with disruptive agendas,” he noted.

He concluded by stressing that the government will continue using legal means to protect the country’s peace and sovereignty.
