The personal Doctor of Bernard Membe’s family, Profesa Harun Nyagori, has clarified the cause of the veteran politician’s death, stating that he was not killed but died due to a sudden lung infection that caused blood clotting. According to the doctor, Membe’s death was attributed to an infection of the respiratory system.
Profesa Harun Nyagori made the statement today, May 12th, 2023, following various reports on social media about the cause of Membe’s death, which had caused controversy.
Bernard Membe passed away on May 12th, 2023, at the Hubert Kairuki Hospital in Dar es Salaam, after being rushed to the hospital at noon by family members when his condition deteriorated suddenly.
Speaking at Membe’s home, Profesa Harun explained that the disease causes blood clotting and blocks the lungs from delivering oxygen. Anyone can suffer from the disease as soon as they contract it through the air, including patients with pneumonia.
Regarding rumors that Membe was killed or poisoned, Profesa Nyagori dismissed them, saying that the truth is that he died from a common illness. Additionally, he stated that Membe had not been suffering from the disease for a long time, and it started three days ago with fever and chest pain, but it worsened the day before yesterday.
