Tanzania’s tourism sector has recorded impressive growth, with both international and domestic tourist numbers rising significantly between 2021 and 2024.
The number of international tourists increased by 132.1%, from 922,692 in 2021 to 2,141,895 in 2024.
Domestic tourism saw an even more dramatic rise, growing by 307.9%, from 788,933 in 2021 to 3,218,352 in 2024.
In total, Tanzania welcomed 5,360,247 tourists in 2024, exceeding the 5 million target set in the CCM election manifesto — achieving 107.2% of the goal.
This growth highlights the success of the Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan in promoting tourism through various strategies, including the launch of the Royal Tour documentary and continued investment in infrastructure and visitor services.
