Two individuals — Ferdinand Anthony, commonly known as Masembo, who is the Village Executive Officer of Liyobahika, and Hussein Ally, known as Madebe — have been arrested by police in Geita Region on suspicion of beating Enock Thomas Mhangwa to death after accusing him of theft.

Geita police have reported that additional suspects are still being sought, including the Ward Executive Officer of Uyovu and two local militia officers (mgambo), who have fled.

A video widely shared on social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and X shows the young man with his hands tied as he is beaten with sticks. The incident is believed to have occurred on June 26, 2025. As a result of the assault, Enock Thomas Mhangwa later died from his injuries.
