Following the death of the Bank of Uganda Governor, Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebilein, yesterday in Nairobi, Kenya, the government of Uganda has prepared a tentative burial program in his honour.
Mutebile died at a hospital in Kenya from what is said to be diabetes-related complications.
The program shows that the body of the late Mutebile will arrive in Uganda this evening, Tuesday 25, 2022.
Tumusiime-Mutebile served as governor for about 21 years, from 2001 until his death.
A vigil to honor his life and service will be held at his home in Kololo on Wednesday, said Minister of State for Industry Hon. David Bahati, the Ndorwa West Member of Parliament in Kabale District where Mutebile was born.
The parliament will have a session in his honor on Thursday, followed by a funeral on Friday at Kololo Independence Grounds, which President Yoweri Museveni will attend as the Chief mourner.
The final funeral service and the burial will take place on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at his ancestral home in Ruhita Kabale Municipality.
He passed away four days to his 73rd birthday leaving behind a son, Duncan Tumusiime, and his wife, Betty Mutebile.
