An explosion that happened on Saturday night in one of the eateries in Kawempe Division in Kampala, Uganda has claimed a life, leaving seven others injured.
The Uganda Police is still investigating the explosion which revived traumatic memories of the 2010 explosion that claimed the lives of 70 people.
Last week the United Kingdom government warned of an attack that was likely to take place in Uganda.
“Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners,” that advisory says.
Today, Sunday October 24, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda spoke to the public saying the explosion was an apparent terrorist act, adding that citizens should remain calm as they are still investigating.
“The public should not fear, we shall defeat this criminality like we have defeated all the other criminality committed by the pigs who don’t respect life,” said President Museveni.
Museveni said three people left a plastic bag at the eatery whose contents later exploded.
