Nigeria’s government has vehemently condemned the unfair treatment of its citizen and other Africans in Ukraine. 

In the few days, video clips and pictures have circulated online showing African racially segregated from boarding trains when trying to escape the war-tone zone in Ukraine. 

Isaac, a Nigerian man, gave bitterly testimony of the situation that the police officer had told him they were not “tending to Africans” when he was trying to catch the train to move to Poland. 

Another Nigerian called Osemen said he was barred from boarding the train in Lviv to take him to Poland. Surprisingly the Ukrainian officials told him he was not allowed. 

“All who flee a conflict situation have the same right to the safe passage under the UN Convention, and the colour of their passport or their skin should make no difference,” Mr Buhari said in a tweet.

University student Ruqqaya, from Nigeria, was studying medicine in Kharkiv, Ukraine, the city that was sieged by the Russian army. She walked 11 hours overnight before she arrived at the Medyka crossing with Poland.

“When I came here, black people were sleeping on the street, “she told the BBC.
