In the quest to recruit new fighters to defend their country, the Ukrainian embassy in Algeria posted on Facebook to invite Algerians to join the fight against Russians in Ukraine.
The Algerian Foreign Ministry has ordered the embassy to take down their post immediately. The post on the Ukrainian embassy Facebook published on Thursday says it was “seeking nationals” to join the resistance to the Russian occupiers and protect world security.
“Anyone who wants to join the defence of security in Europe and the world can come and alongside the Ukrainians against the invaders of the 21st Century”, it read.
The post was pulled down after the Algerian Foreign Ministry said that the post “violated the provision of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations between states”.
Ukrainian embassy also in Senegal posted the same post on their Facebook and received a vehement rebuke from the Senegalese government, saying that the recruitment of volunteers, mercenaries, or foreign fighters on the territory of the country was illegal and liable to the penalties provided by the law.
