The task force appointed by the registrar of political parties, Justice Francis Mutungi, presented the recommendations to president Samia that the process toward obtaining the new constitution shall start after the 2025 General Elections, with President Samia insisting on working on it and urging them to submit proposals.
The task force’s chairman, Prof Rwekaza Mukandara, had the remarks on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Magogoni statehouse in Dar es Salaam. The task force comprises members of different factions, i.e. CSO, political parties, members of the defence and security committees and politicians.
The task force is assigned to monitor and analyse the democratic process, addressing the challenges facing some political parties, including the thorny issues of rallies.
In his remarks, Prof Mukandara revealed the reason for that delay, which is to provide an opportunity to align the vision for development in the coming years, which will give direction to the new constitution.
