In the bid to curb thievery in water projects and ensure effective monitoring of water projects and delivery of fair payment of water bills to citizens, President Samia launched an electronic system to assist the intended purpose.

According to the Minister of Water Hon Juma Aweso, the device will call to an end malpractices such as laxity, lack of transparency and massive embezzlement in the execution of government water projects around the country. 

Eng. Anthony Sanga, the ministry of water secretary, said that the ministry launched Maji App to monitor all ongoing water projects in Tanzania and accessible to anyone via mobile phone.

In mitigating public decry over the delivery of unfair water bills to the clients, the ministry has launched another system that electronically reads clients’ water usage, submits auto-bills to the clients and provides the client with the ability to report any fault instantly.

According to Eng. Sanga, the ministry, plans to launch the system in Zanzibar after a successful operation in different parts of Tanzania mainland.
