Tanzania Airlines (ATCL) has denied reports circulating on social media that it has suspended Chato’s trip in Geita region, saying the route is still available twice a week.
Speaking to the local media, ATCL spokesperson Josephat Kagirwa said the trips since they started in January 2021 have never been cancelled.
“The trip between Geita and Dar es Salaam is still going on every Thursday and Saturday, so the information provided is not true,” said Kagirwa.
Mr Kagwira said that, initially, passengers going to Chato were 240 per month, but a year later, the number dropped. Currently, the average number of passengers to Chato per month is 35.
