Rage has engulfed social media amongst internet users following an increase of data bundle services by some giant telecommunications operating in Tanzania.
Users have also claimed not to be informed by their internet service providers about the recent changes, that users have protested and claimed to be unfair and expensive.
After Dar Mpya, an active online media company, posted about the ongoing frenzy, the Minister of Information, Hon Nape Nnauye, surfaced with a tweet, seemingly unaware of the situation and demanded Dar Mpya to present valid evidence of whom bought bundles at new uninformed rates.
Hon Nape’s response stirred commotion amongst users claiming that he should have been aware of the incident instead of demanding evidence from Dar Mpya. Neither TCRA nor the telecommunications have made any statement to the public regarding the abrupt surge of bundle services.
However, the Tanzania Communication and Regulatory Authority has posted on Twitter, calling citizens to use the number they have attached to the post to send their claims along with evidence to back claims of the alleged breach by telecommunications.
