National Insitute for Medical Research (NIMR) has revealed intentions to produce vaccines in Tanzania to fight diseases and mitigate vaccine dependency, including COVID-19 vaccines. 

Prof Yunus Mgaya, NIMR Executive Director, made those remarks in Kilimanjaro when he toured Kibong’oto Infectious Disease Hospital in Siha District to supervise the ongoing construction of the modern laboratory.

Professor Mgaya has revealed that NIRM is currently conducting clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccines, and it might start to be rolled out at the end of this year.
