The Dar es Salaam Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (DAWASA) has said it has shut down the Ruvu Juu water treatment plant, located in Kibaha District, Pwani Region, resulting in a water shortage for approximately 12 hours in some areas of Dar es Salaam and Pwani today, as part of preparations to mitigate the potential impact of expected heavy rains.
DAWASA said the maintenance work started at 12:00 noon and is expected to continue until 12:00 midnight, with the aim of preparing the system to deal with potential impacts from the expected heavy rains.
Areas affected by the maintenance include Ruvu Darajani, Ruvu JKT, Vigwaza, Mlandizi, Mbwawa, Soga, Mwendapole, Tanita, Kwa Mathias, Picha ya Ndege, Kibaha, Kiluvya, Kibamba, Malamba Mawili, Saranga, Mbezi, Ubungo, Kimara, Tabata, Segerea, Kinyerezi, Kisukuru, Bonyokwa, Ukonga, Uwanja wa Ndege, Kiwalani, Vingunguti, Gongo la Mboto, Pugu and Kisarawe.
