DPP drops Mbowe’s case

Senior State Counsel, Robert Kidando has told the Economic Crimes Court that the DPP has no intention of continuing with the terrorism case against CHADEMA Chairman, Freeman Mbowe and his fellows.

“We request that all charges against the accused be dropped,” said the DPP.

Many have pleaded to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for Mbowe’s and co-accused case to be dropped, including a meeting at Ikulu, Dar es Salaam on March 2, 2022.

“The religious leaders used the meeting with President to ask authority responsible for that matter to end the case”, reads the state statement by the Director of Presidential Communications, Zuhura Yunus.

Mbowe and co-accused defence hearings begin on March 4.
