Geita Regional Commissioner Alexander Mnyeti has ordered that the Toyota Land Cruiser V8 belonging to the Chato District Council Executive Director be used to transport patients requiring referrals from Muganza Health Centre after the ambulance broke down due to damaged tyres.
Mnyeti issued the directive during a public meeting held at Kasenda International Fish Market in Chato District, following complaints from residents that ambulance services had been unavailable for more than a month.
Mnyeti criticised the situation, saying it was unacceptable for an essential life-saving service to be suspended because of tyres. He said the challenge should have been addressed by the council leadership without waiting for his visit.
